Mountain Access
Our Mission: To provide your company with Success in reaching Mountain Sites Safely.
Peak Adventures Mountain Access provides snowcat transportation to electronic sites in a professional safe manner. All machines have hydraulic blades to build level snow roads, fill in tree wells and knock out large drifts. Our snowcats easily accommodate cabinets, antennas and microwave dishes. Enclosed cabs are able to accommodate three technicians along with test equipment, reducing their exposure to the elements.
Cost Benefit
Communication companies of all sizes have found that using our services over the course of the winter season was less expensive and certifiably safer than owning and maintaining their own snowcat. Especially when you consider the dangers associated with operating such a unique piece of equipment in a mountain environment.
Although snowmobiles seem like a much less expensive way to access the mountains, technicians often find the snow is too deep, the drifts too high and the day too short. By the time technicians finally reach a site they are exhausted from shoveling and hauling gear. With Mountain Access we help protect your equipment, and free technicians to put their energy into working at the site, instead of reaching the site.
Snowcat Vs. Helicopter
When evaluating mountain access it may appear that it is much easier to rent a helicopter to go straight to the top rather than add transportation costs of equipment and personnel. However helicopters are subject to weather conditions, limited cargo capacity, limited availability and a host of other safety concerns when accessing communication sites. Since our snowcats charge by the site, not the hour, there are no extra for fees for additional time. That way you can get the job done without worrying about a time line or weather changes.
Weather
Mountain environments in winter can become hostile in minutes. Our heated snowcats provide safe secure transportation in all weather conditions, unlike helicopters. By using a blade and paying close attention to avalanche hazards we are able to travel safely in virtually all weather conditions, including high winds, blizzards and bitter cold.
Experience
Our drivers have been thoroughly trained in avalanche awareness, snow survival, chainsaw usage and safe driving techniques. Our snowcats are maintained meticulously by our drivers who are capable of performing field repair, although it is seldom required.
Mountain Access has been successfully reaching mountain summits for over twelve years! We have become experienced at negotiating with public and private enterprises such as ski areas to arrange access, and we also understand the importance of communicating with these agencies. We take special pride in preparing to reach each site, by evaluating its specific dangers and safely overcoming them.
